Sharing Holy Week: A Family Story

I want to thank All Saints Church for sharing the small booklet from Candlestick Press that I picked up at the Family Eucharist on Palm Sunday. We followed the booklet this past week and tailored the instructions to fit the interests/needs/ages of our family. On Monday we cut out a cardboard cross and placed it into a bowl of lavender. On Tuesday we recognized the abundance of gifts in our lives, discussed gratitude, and wrote thank-you cards to Jesus. On Wednesday we tore up pieces of paper on which we had written things that make us angry and sad. We then placed the pieces of paper at the foot of the cross and talked about taking our fears and anger to Jesus. On Thursday we decorated eggs and shared the story of the last supper over a simple pancake dinner. On Friday we buried the cross in the lavender. The girls were thrilled to awake on Sunday morning to find that the cross was standing again, surrounded with their beautifully decorated eggs, a few pieces of chocolate (that were quickly devoured!), and adorned with glitter and ribbon!
